Today, under the expert guidance of Head PGA Professional Kevin Kwak, our PGA certified golf staff is highly-trained to organize social golf outings, administer a variety of teaching programs, and oversee a computerized handicap system; all are consistent with USGA standards.
An extensive golf activities program is designed to produce fun, fellowship, and friendly competition for males, females, couples and children. A full season of events includes a variety of unique tournaments and outings that offer every member of the club an opportunity to take advantage of the golf facilities.
Crow Valley's acclaimed Junior Golf Program has consistently produced highly skilled and competitive young players, both male and female. The program offers Crow Valley juniors professional instruction and course access that is unmatched in the Quad Cities. Junior tournaments (within the club and with other area clubs), as well as Parent-Child tournaments, offer members' children every opportunity to appreciate and develop "life skills" for this sport.

Practice Green Project August 2007
From the Maintenance Facility-Jason Manfull May 2008 The renovated practice green is progressing ahead of schedule. We are planning on opening the green for the Men's Spring Stag on May 7. There will also be an informative session the morning of the Creaky Bones tournament, May 3. We will review time lines and project goals during the meeting. Other areas which are being addressed are weed control and trimming. These issues will be more easily tackled as the staff increases. We plan to have a staff of 26 in place by late May. This will allow us to address member needs more quickly and also increase the amount of detailed labor during the project this fall. The shrubs by #4 tee will be in place by May 1. These shrubs are Summer Wine ninebark and will have copper foliage, making a good back drop behind #3 green. The border will grow 5'-7' tall. The course is ready for a great deal of play; hopefully the golf begins to increase along with the temperatures.
From the Pro-Kevin Kwak April 2008 Time sure flies when you're having fun! Spring is officially here and it has been nice to finally have some people begin to experience the golf course as it awakens from its long winter rest. Over the past month, I have had the opportunity to meet many of our members and I want to thank you for taking the time to stop into to shop to introduce yourself and say hello. As you come out to the golf course to play, please take a moment to stop in the golf shop and say hello.
As your Head Golf Professional, I would like to make a request that that will only contribute to the positive golf experience at Crow Valley Golf Club. In the "Spirit of the Game" as well as in respect to the policies that are laid out by you, the members, I ask you to please keep in mind that all play on the golf course is administered by your Professional Staff. It is our intention to treat all members on a positive level playing field. In respect of others, please honor the policy of checking in with a member of the Professional Staff before beginning play on the course. I have received numerous calls in regards to play on the course where members are beginning play on the course in their own back yard. For your own safety and positive golf experience, as well as the opportunity to have us deliver service to you, please make sure that all play begins from the #1 tee. Adhering to this policy will contribute to the overall golf experience of all members at Crow Valley Golf Club.

From the Maintenance Facility-Jason Manfull April 2008 On March 25, the practice green tarp was removed and green surface was thoroughly examined. The green wintered very well. We will begin routine maintenance on the surface in early April. The surface height of cut will be lowered, verti-cut, topdressed, fertilized, and sprayed for several weeks. During the April 15 Green Committee meeting, our committee will examine the green and set a tentative opening date to be presented at the Board meeting on April 17. By the initial appearance of the green, we anticipate the green being open for play on May 15. The green needs to be able to withstand concentrated foot traffic before we can allow golfers to putt on it. The very few thin areas of turf, nearest the clubhouse and on the collar, will be verti-cut, topdressed, and overseeded. This thin section is a result of the green being shaded by the clubhouse.
The Maintenance Staff has placed 14 red marking flags on the course to indicate approximate areas for the temporary greens. All areas will be in fairways and no areas will be cut out of the rough. We plan to begin preparations of these areas starting June 16-20. This maintenance should not interfere with routine play. We want to start early and prepare the temporary greens by gradually lowering the height of cut and using sand topdressing to create an actual green-like playing surface.
Please take a minute to check out any postings in the bulletin board by # 1 tee. The Green Committee has placed an emphasis on communicating dates and time frames this year and you will find many updates on the bulletin board. We are also planning to have a suggestion box in the Pro Shop. This will be near the handicap computer and if anyone has a quick comment or concern, write a brief note and this box will be checked every week.
Hopefully Mother Nature will give in soon, we can see some better spring weather, and kick start the golf season in April.

What can I do to become more familiar with A-4 bentgrass?
I would also encourage you to visit the A-4 nursery to the right of #4 rough. This area is in the second year of establishment and is very indicative of what the greens will look like with a 100% stand of A-4.
